Garage Door Opener Repair
A dead remote or a motor that hums and does nothing is often a small fix. It is worth checking before you replace the whole unit.
What we check
A lot of opener call-outs turn out not to be the opener at all. If the door is out of balance the motor is being asked to lift weight the spring should be carrying, and it will sound like it is failing when it is actually just overloaded. So the door gets checked first.
After that it is the usual suspects. The safety sensors near the floor are the single most common cause of a door that reverses: knocked out of line, covered in cobwebs, or with a loose wire. Travel and force limits drift over time and make a door stop short or bounce back. Remotes lose their programming or just need a battery.
Inside the unit, a stripped drive gear is a common failure and is a repair rather than a replacement. Avi will tell you when a repair makes sense and when you are better off putting the money toward a new opener instead.

Frequently asked questions
Usually the safety sensors at the bottom of the tracks are out of alignment or blocked, or the close-force limit is set too low. Both are quick to check.
That points at the remote rather than the opener. It can be a flat battery or lost programming. If several remotes stopped at once it is more likely the receiver in the unit.
That is often a stripped drive gear, or a door so heavy that the motor cannot move it, which usually means a broken spring. Do not keep pressing the button, because that can burn out the motor.
Sometimes. It depends on the fault and the condition of the unit. Avi will tell you what the repair costs and what a replacement costs, and you decide.
